  • GSN ANNOUNCES SPEED SKATING CHAMPIONAPOLO ANTON OHNOAS HOST OF “MINUTE TO WIN IT”
Produced by Shine America,New Original Episodes of Hit Game ShowSlated to Premiere in Summer 2013
March 14, 2013 (Santa Monica, CA) GSN announced today that Apolo Anton Ohno, one of the most decorated American athletes of all time and DANCING WITH THE STARS champion, will be the host of GSN’s new series MINUTE TO WIN IT. GSN’s production of 40 new original episodes marks the first time the series has been developed by a U.S. cable network. The episodes are to be produced by Shine America - based on the format owned by Shine’s sister company Friday TV. MINUTE TO WIN IT begins production in March and is slated to premiere in summer 2013.
"All my life I have welcomed unique challenges and now, for the first time, I have the opportunity to tackle a new one by hosting MINUTE TO WIN IT,” said Ohno. “From speed skating to dancing, it’s only fitting that I selected a show with wild and creative challenges for my inaugural hosting role. Bring it!”
Short-track speed skater Ohno holds eight Olympic medals—two gold, two silver and four bronze—from the 2002, 2006 and 2010 Winter games, more than any other American Winter Olympian in history. In addition, he earned eight gold, seven silver and six bronze medals in seven World Championship competitions. Ohno’s speed skates from the 2002 Winter Olympics are housed at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
In 2007, Ohno brought his winning style to DANCING WITH THE STARS, first partnering with Julianne Hough in Season Four. The pair received the first perfect score of 30 in the show’s history for their samba routine—and went on to become the season champions. He returned to the show in the fall of 2012 as a member of the first DANCING WITH THE STARS All-Star cast. Recently the athlete, actor, bestselling author and philanthropist has been bringing light to the subject of exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB), a breathing disorder that handicapped Ohno before it was successfully diagnosed and treated in 2000.
In each one-hour episode of MINUTE TO WIN IT, competitors face 10 challenges that escalate in level of difficulty using everyday household items. Each game has a one-minute time limit and failure to finish the task on time will eliminate the contestant. At various points throughout the game, the competitor can walk away with the money earned up to that point - but it'll take nerves of steel to complete all 10 tasks to win $250,000.

  • NBC GIVES 13-EPISODE SERIES PICKUP TO NEW DRAMA 'CAMP' IN SUMMER 2013
New Show Depicts Family Life in Raucous Summer Camp
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - January 6, 2013 - NBC has picked up the sly new drama series "Camp" for 13 episodes for broadcast in Summer 2013, it was announced today by Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment.
This summer, NBC invites you to camp. In the tradition of "Meatballs" and "Dazed and Confused," Little Hawk Family Camp is a wicked slice of lake-side heaven. In the one-hour drama, parents decompress with gin while teenagers make gleeful mischief and fall in and out of love. Little Hawk Family Camp - where mother nature and human nature collide.
Said Salke: "In our desire to make summer an exciting place at NBC along with our signature unscripted shows like 'America's Got Talent,' 'The Voice' and 'American Ninja Warrior,' we developed a scripted dramedy we love with BermanBraun that has rich and dysfunctional characters in that great setting where millions of families and young people go each summer: camp. Most of us have had great experiences at camp, and this show -- created by two of our favorite producers, Liz Heldens (creator of 'Deception') and Peter Elkoff (co-executive producer of 'Deception') -- is sophisticated, funny, and emotional, and we think it will be the ideal summer series for us."

  • TNT Greenlights Cold Justice (working title) From Wolf Films and Magical Elves
TNT has greenlit Cold Justice (working title) a new unscripted procedural drama that follows two top-notch female investigators as they dig into murder cases that have lingered for years without answers and closure. The network has ordered eight episodes of Cold Justice, which comes to TNT from Wolf Films and Magical Elves. Cold Justice is executive-produced by Emmy® winners Dick Wolf (Law & Order, Chicago Fire), Dan Cutforth & Jane Lipsitz (Top Chef, Fashion Star) and Tom Thayer (Hitchcock, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee).
In small towns across America, cases involving violent crimes can often go cold because of a lack of funding, resources and state-of-the-art forensic technology. With the right resources, though, many of these cold cases can be re-opened and solved, bringing dangerous criminals to justice and providing closure for the families of their victims.
In TNT's Cold Justice, Kelly Siegler, a Texas prosecutor for 21 years who has successfully tried 68 murder cases, and Yolanda McClary, a crime scene investigator who worked more than 7,000 cases in her 26 years on the Las Vegas Police Department, are putting their vast knowledge and experience to work helping local law-enforcement officers and families of violent-crime victims get to the truth. With a fresh set of eyes on old evidence, superior interrogation skills and access to advanced DNA technology and lab testing, Siegler and McClary are determined to bring about a legal and emotional resolution. Taking on a different unsolved crime each week, they will carefully re-examine evidence, question suspects and witnesses, and chase down leads in order to solve cases that would have otherwise remained cold indefinitely.
Plans call for Cold Justice to join the TNT lineup in late summer 2013. The network has three other unscripted series slated for 2013, beginning in February with Boston's Finest, an unscripted look at Boston law-enforcement officers from executive producer Donnie Wahlberg. This summer, TNT will launch The Hero, a competition series headlined by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and 72 Hours, a race-against-the-clock competition show set in the wild.

DIY NETWORK ANNOUNCES NEW RENOVATION AND RESTORATION SHOWS FOR VANILLA ICE, REV. RUN, BRONSON PINCHOT AND DARYL HALL
NEW YORK – April 23, 2013 – DIY Network, the go-to destination for rip-up knock-out home improvement television, announced today that it has added four exciting new series featuring celebrities with a passion for home renovation and historic restoration to its popular primetime line-up. Currently in production, Vanilla Ice Goes Amish, The Rev. Run Project, The Daryl Hall Project and Bronson Pinchot Saves America are set to premiere later this year and in 2014.
“Celebrities own and renovate homes just like the rest of us – some even know enough about renovation and real estate to flip homes for a profit,” said Kathleen Finch, general manager of DIY Network and sister property HGTV. “Watching Vanilla Ice swing a hammer, Rev. Part detective story, part emotional journey, GENEALOGY ROADSHOW will combine history and science to uncover the fascinating stories of diverse Americans. Each individual's past will link to a larger community history, revealing the rich cultural tapestry of America. GENEALOGY ROADSHOW will air Mondays, September 23-October 14, 9:00-10:00 p.m. ET.

Residents of Austin, Detroit, Nashville and San Francisco are invited and encouraged to submit their personal stories as GENEALOGY ROADSHOW will unearth family and community secrets, reveal notable relatives and discover unexpected stories that connect the past to the present. Many answers will be revealed on camera before a local audience, in a historic building relevant to the cities' - and the participants' - histories.
"It is rare and wonderful when one can produce a show in which literally everyone is qualified to be a part of it," said executive producer Stuart Krasnow. "PBS is the perfect partner to produce a show that celebrates the richness of the individual, and the differences between us that make our country unique."
THE GENEALOGY ROADSHOW has been a hit in Ireland, where national public broadcaster RTE commissioned the original format from producer Big Mountain Productions. "It just hit a nerve," said Big Mountain executive producer Philip McGovern. "Everybody wants answers to questions about their own histories to help make sense of their lives today. We've had a lot of interest in the format internationally and are delighted PBS has picked it up."

The pilot, set to shoot in Chicago later this month, will be directed by Victor Nelli ( "Happy Endings," "Wilfred," "Ugly Betty," "Scrubs"), who will also executive produce.
SIRENS follows three of Chicago's best EMTs whose sometimes self-loathing, other times narcissistic, and always downright self-destructive personalities make them unqualified for sustaining relationships, friendships and most occupations. They are, however, uniquely qualified for saving anyone unlucky enough to wind up in their ambulance.
Mosley stars as "Johnny," a good-looking, sports-loving, Chicago EMT who works with his best friend "Hank," played by Daniels. McNamee stars as "Theresa," a smart, gorgeous female cop with the Chicago PD who still loves her ex Johnny, but ultimately had to move on when he wouldn't commit, and Bigley appears as "Brian," a wide-eyed and excitable new EMT, eager and always ready for an adventure, who still lives with his parents. Hank and Johnny put him through the paces but for the most part Brian doesn't mind; he's game for anything.

  • Dynasty Set To Return on Big Screen
TV Series Creators Plan Movie Reboot
Somewhere in the world there is an episode of Dynasty airing right now.
More than 30 years after its creation, the iconic nighttime soap opera still resonates with audiences, so show creators Richard and Esther Shapiro are following the trend set by the big screen remakes of series like Sex and the City, The A-Team, Charlie’s Angels, Starsky & Hutch and the planned 21 Jump Street film by rebooting Dynasty as a new film franchise.
“The time is right,” said Esther Shapiro, co-creator of the series with her husband Richard. “Nostalgia has always been big, but we want to take it a step further. We want to go back to the beginning with these characters and use the film to trace their roots. We’re taking Blake Carrington back to his young manhood and when he met Alexis, and setting the movie in the Mad Men era of the 1960s. It will give us the opportunity to start fresh, without the constraints that television placed on our characters in the series.”

Said Mark Stern, President, Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions: “Opposite Worlds has become an absolute phenomenon. This groundbreaking, edgy program is a remarkable television experiment transporting the audience and the contestants into starkly opposite worlds, simultaneously. This will be a terrific addition to our prime time schedule which will fascinate Syfy viewers and invite them to play a part in the action and outcome.”
In Opposite Worlds, twenty people from all walks of life are mixed together in two opposing teams that live in two distinctly different worlds – the Past and the Future. The Future is a Utopia where every wish can be granted with a push of a button; the Past is a constant struggle for survival. Each week, players compete in a series of challenges to determine who lives in the Past and who lives in the Future.

LARRY NIVEN'S RINGWORLD FROM MGM TELEVISION AND UNIVERSAL CABLE PRODUCTIONS
ARTHUR C. CLARKE'S CHILDHOOD'S END WITH MICHAEL DELUCA AS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER AND UNIVERSAL CABLE PRODUCTIONS
NEW YORK - April 10, 2013 - Syfy announced today it is developing miniseries based on two of science fiction's greatest novels: Larry Niven's Ringworld and Arthur C. Clarke's Childhood's End. They join the previously announced Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle from Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions, writer/executive producer Frank Spotnitz, Headline Pictures and FremantleMedia International, Stephen King's Eyes of the Dragon, from Universal Cable Productions (UCP) and Ostar Productions, and Darkfall, also from UCP and Jim Henson Productions, as long form productions.
Adapted by writer Michael Perry (The River, Paranormal Activity 2), Ringworld is based on Niven's best-selling book and is being developed as a four-hour mini-series Syfy event. The project is a co-production of MGM Television and Universal Cable Productions (UCP), with MGM as the lead studio. Executive producers are William S. Todman Jr. and Edward Milstein.
Childhood's End will be executive produced by Michael DeLuca (The Social Network) with Universal Cable Productions serving as the studio.

In Ringworld, a hastily-assembled team of explorers travels to the farthest reaches of space to investigate a mind-blowing alien artifact called Ringworld - an artificial habitat the size of one million Earths. As they crash land on this enormous structure, they discover the remnants of ancient civilizations, technology beyond their wildest dreams, mysteries that shed light on the very origins of man and, most importantly, a possible salvation for a doomed Earth.
Childhood's End follows a peaceful alien invasion of Earth by the mysterious Overlords, whose arrival ends all war and turns the planet into a near-utopia.
